NEW PRINT EDITION

In the March/April 2025 edition of the print magazine, ’New Life’ is a theme as we stop off in the Renosterveld of the Overberg to witness Black Harrier fledgling’s find their wings. Along a cool, forested stream in Plettenberg Bay, a photographer gets an exclusive view into a Half-collared Kingfisher’s new family, while a Spotted Thick-knee speeds its youngsters into the new world. A pair of Black-winged Stilts find romance among the rushes, and we travel to Prince Edward Islands, where Rockhopper and Macaroni chicks venture into the ocean.

This edition highlights a South African birding epic that will inspire many of you to embark on your own adventure (Click here to plan your trip with GoBirding). No fish is safe in continental waters, as demonstrated by our photographer’s portfolio. A fine artistic hand explores the role of sunbirds and sugarbirds in the southern flower kingdom, then we head to East Africa where a new book dives into the curious lives of the regional birds.

GOLDEN SUPPORT

As always, we have fabulous rarities seen in the Southern African region and a round up of BirdLife South Africa’s essential conservation work. BirdLife South Africa CEO Mark Anderson celebrates the Golden Bird Patrons who in 2024 generously donated more than R3-million towards conserving South Africa’s precious birds and their habitats. Click here if you would like to learn more about how you can help ensure a positive future for our country’s birds as a Golden Patron.

Happy reading, folks!
